Chronologically Challenged
“Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” - Chicago
At the time of publishing this article I regret to inform you that it’s a week late and the pain of that is not lost on me. I hesitated even sharing this at all but felt late is better than nothing at all.
Why the absence? As life so often does I was given an unexpected challenge in the form of relocating. I’m currently in the process of moving (rather unexpectedly) and with that news came a slew of distractions that kept me in an anxiety induced haze.
It’s no excuse to publish late but here we are.
Normally I’d have a lot more prepared with more of a narrative but today this felt like the right thing to share.
My grandmother used to say “We plan, God laughs.” (I even wrote an article about it you can read here)
The idea behind that statement is, we think we know what the future holds but things happen whether we’re ready or not, life moves forward.
While you’re in the eye of the hurricane amongst the changes it feels as if you’ll suffer a fate worse than death (a coffin has never looked so comfy compared to moving!) But in the end, you always survive and are stronger because of it.
I’ve learned over the years that when these liminal moments happen, you realize you have more strength and insight than you give yourself credit for. Whether you’ve always had it or some spirit of divine insight possesses you at just the right moment doesn’t matter. When the time comes to stare down the barrel of a loaded gun, you’re always ready for action and despite the participatory anxiety and fear of the unknown, we always make it out ahead and end up just worrying about the next thing.
It’s a cycle of suffering that is life but it doesn’t have to be. If we can recognize the pattern and learn to understand the game for what it is at the very least, when life throws a hard ball we won’t flinch.
P.S. If you’re a fan of horror you can read or listen to “The Cat King” for free!(Also on Youtube!)
