The Doctor's In
I wanted to take this week's post to peel back the curtain and share a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes.
As some of you may or may not know, I’ve started Sessions with Dr. Botgore, a collection of horror tales told through the forgotten files of renowned Psychoanalyst Dr. Thaddeus Botgore.
Two stories have been published but as is the norm for me, I got ahead of myself. I’ve wanted to create this anthology for sometime and prepared stories which now sit in various stages of development. Ideally before launching it would have been wise to develop a content calendar of release dates.
But, I’m me and we did not do that, so here we are! 😊
This week has been aggregating all stories into digital format. (Some are written in notebooks, loose pages and bar napkins.)
The next step was to create a spreadsheet of stories and identify which stage they’re at.
This has given me enough of a foundation to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Many of these stories I’ve been unsure about and left for so longer than I’d like because at the time, I was not ready to take on the task that was the story. As a writer it’s important to recognize when an idea is too big for you. I’ve never forgotten about them, in fact, while I’m writing other stories many of these back burner projects subtly remain top of mind.
As I allow them to gestate they begin to form new life. The next step becomes obvious and the story begins to find itself.
If fiction is something that excites you, I would love for you to check out my latest story: Love At First Sight
