The Story Thus Far
Hope you had a nice weekend! I wanted to take this week's post as an opportunity to offer an update on some fiction and a new project I’ve started.
This last week I’ve been converting my first rough draft written in long-form onto the computer to create a much cleaner second draft. I’ve written first drafts on computers and paper and find writing longhand offers more time between ideas. Our hands are only capable of writing so fast compared to typing. When typing the words often form before the idea which results in rambling sentences (like this post!)
The fiction I’ve been working on is a story with the working title “Arnold” about a young man's desire to be accepted and break free from the patterns of loneliness that plagued him all his life. The story has elements that are horrifying and disgusting, as I transferred the story from page to word processor, I was horrified by what I read. I consider that something of value. My goal was to move the reader and I’m hoping this story will do just that.
Another little project I’ve been playing around with is a new podcast called The Bronstein Show
This podcast is me and my brother Jarred Bronstein sharing our stories week to week. Jarred is a working actor and has worked with many fascinating people. So far the feedback has been kinder than expected and people seem to be enjoying it. If this is something that interests you You can click here to listen or find us on any podcast platform.
The first thing you may notice (as I can’t stop thinking about it) is our logo. It’s far from good and good from afar but it’s a work in progress a lot like our first episode. I wanted to push the idea that it’s best to start first and learn as you go rather than to suffer from as Stephen Pressfield puts it “Paralysis by analysis.”
I hope you will enjoy the podcast and Arnold when it releases and to all the fathers out there happy belated fathers day!
Neurotically yours,
Lorne
